Reduce inventory losses for dairy products portfolio across 18 cities by improving accuracy of Next-Day Demand Forecasts to be as close as possible to Actual Demand.
Approach

Understood factors affecting demand - festivals, holidays, weekends, seasons, leakage, unforeseen surge
- Data Analysis
Analyzed data for all dairy products across 18 cities, including Actual Demand and Indent (existing forecast).
- Team Collaboration
Collaborated closely with forecasting team to identify excess inventory factors and enhance the forecast model
Solution
- Demand Forecast (Regression Analysis + Seasonality)
Initially forecasted demand using Regression Analysis. The results were not better than the actual demand. Enhanced the excel regression model by incorporating seasonality and trends.
Impact / Result
- Optimized Demand Forecast
Optimized next-day inventories across 18 cities and reduced next-day average inventory losses from 8.75% to 3.95%.
- Model Presentation and Adoption
Prepared presentation and demonstrated model to teams. Model enhancement was successfully adopted after feedback

Built excel model that linked purchase price of raw materials to inflation of the country over a 3 year projection. Model was linked to the World Bank Inflation Dataset.

Tool allowed more effective negotiations with global luxury brands (Zara/Gucci). Profit margin improved upto 3% for longer cycle orders
